Open for the Public: Pedagogies Towards the Commons

When the sun shines outside, you probably need a double good reason to come indoors, switch on your machine and join a webinar. Well, on June 6th I’m not giving you a double good reason, I’m giving you the one and only reason you will want to connect to the internet: Robin DeRosa! Yabadabadoo!

Open for the Public: Pedagogies Towards the Commons
In this presentation, Robin will talk about her journey into open, and explore how open pedagogies can transform assignments, courses, programs, institutions, and even the technologies we use to communicate. She will highlight a couple of successful projects she worked on with students, and share examples from OPN, a new sharing site for educators and students who are trying out open practices. She will leave plenty of time for Q&A to talk with participants about their own work, challenges and pitfalls related to working in the open, and current debates in the open community.
Robin DeRosa’s research and advocacy work focus on Open Education, and how universities can innovate in order to bring down costs for students, increase interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary collaboration, and rebuild the case for public funding of higher education. She is a professor at Plymouth State University, part of the University System of New Hampshire, where she directs the Interdisciplinary Studies program.

This webinar took place on Wednesday June 6th at 14.00 BST.

The recording is available on GO-GN’s YouTube channel.
