GO-GN is shortlisted for the Open Education Global Awards 2024!

GO-GN was delighted to be shortlisted for a Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) Special Award as part of Open Education Global’s annual celebration of individuals, initiatives, organisations, projects and events that support work to progress open education around the world.

Since the Open Education Awards (#OEAwards) began in 2011, GO-GN has received several awards including for Open Research in 2018 and for our collaborative Research Methods Handbook in 2020. We were also shortlisted in 2023 for our Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) Guidelines in the Diversity, Equity & Inclusion category.

GO-GN was honoured to be listed alongside three amazing initiatives in the shortlist for this year’s DEI category, which was won by the fantastic Open for Anti-Racism (OFAR) program and Doing the work: Diversity, and Inclusion in Open Educational Resources and Equity-minded Open Course Design. This achievement reflects our work over the past six years to better understand how to support our GO-GN members and increase representation and amplify voices, which are often marginalised.

Our EDI work has focused on Latin America and Africa to date. As we continue to build on this going forward, we are also working to better understand EDI practice in open education in the Asia and Pacific regions. In November, our 2-day workshop prior to the Open Education Global 2024 conference in Brisbane, Australia will focus on how to further progress our EDI work in these regions and expand on our existing EDI guidelines, which can be used by anyone working to implement EDI in their practice.

Warmest congratulations to all those who were shortlisted or won awards this year! We were also delighted to see so many GO-GN members and alumni shortlisted and awarded #OEAwards:
